Juan de la Cruz in San Fran 1

I cant help but notice the Filipino accent in the lyrics of Hotel California playing in the air. I kept on walking until I saw where that accent was coming from. I saw a middle aged man standing with his guitar, harmonica and his pair of Nike's. He was Filipino alright. The word California was transformed into caliPornia. There was something inside me that was forcing me into giving him my last couple of quarters and pennies. I guess it was something in every Pinoy which allows one to help out a fellow Pinoy. I dropped the coins in his guitar case while saying "ingat po kayo." As he was ending his song he smiled at me and says "maraming salamat". And when I was walking away he started saying "dis is por you!" and he started playing the Filipino song ANAK.

Life in the States is not as easy as you think it is. He probably was searching for greener pastures but ended up in the streets of San Francisco with his guitar, harmonica, his pair of Nike's and his accent.

I hope and pray that he will be alright and get his life back together.
